Castelluccia Tower
It stands on a promontory which dominates the wonderful sand beach of "Lido Silvana" where you find the remains of a
Bronze Age village (XI-X century B.C.) with rectangular rooms' remains.
The tower, called "Saracena", belongs to defences built in the XVI century formed by 14 towers located on the
east coast. It's one of the few still complete ones. We hope that an archeological park project may be soon
realised so thet the promontory may be visited in a more corred way by everyone.
The Castle
It was founded in the first years of the XV century and originally, it was a meeting-place for the birds hunting for
there was plenty of them in the surronding marshes. Then the castle was used as parking place for soldiers. In 1912 it
was bought by the municipally and from then it has been the seat of the town-hall of Pulsano.
It is placed in the centre of Pulsano beside the main street. It has five towers, two round and three square ones,
they all are irregular in shape and height. It has many rooms inside and, originally, there was a moat round it which
in the time has been filled up. There is a project for the isolation of the castle which wants to make it the seat of
a local museum and cultural centres.
The Guarini Collection
The very rich private collection "Guarini" at the moment includes more than two hundred pieces among which the vase
of the arcaic, classical and medieval period are remarkable.
