Santa Cesarea Terme is situated on a long stretch of coast with a phenomenon of thermal springs. The chlorinated, sulphuric and iodic waters from the spring of Santa Cesarea Terme bubble at variable temperatures in four natural caves, linked to the sea, called Gattulla, Fetida, Sulfurea and Solfatara.
Their beneficiary effects have been known to the inhabitants of the zone in remote ages, but the scientific valorisation is dated only in the nineteenth century and, above all, at the beginning of the twentieth century when the thermal establishment of Gattulla was inaugurated (1910).
Spring water baths and mud baths are particularly indicated for the dermatological, arthoreumatic pathologies and also in curing the respiratory tract, in trauma after-effects, and of course in beauty and antistress.
